Sustainability

Sustainability is a key driver behind Freemont’s business informed by the 3 pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social.

Environmental

Environmental best practice is a must for Freemont.

We are developing our Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 as part of our integrated Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) system.

We reuse and we minimise waste. We have a track record for achieving high levels of construction waste being diverted from landfill. Recycling products on the job or from other projects is something we constantly look to do and ask our suppliers to think about too. We won the contract to retrofit The Greenhouse, MediaCityUK, a result of our innovative and sustainable solution to convert existing offices previously occupied by Bovis Lendlease into new digital media offices.

Wherever possible we use the most sustainable products including FSC sourced timber, environmental adhesives, mastics and paint. Freemont meet regularly with our supply chain to become informed about new sustainable products that can perform to the highest standards.

We recognise the need to innovate and respond to the challenges presented by climate change and the shift to low carbon construction and with the support of Urban Vision have undertaken a carbon assessment of our offices to understand the environmental impact of our business and to make improvements where needed.

Social

Ours is a socially driven business with an award-winning reputation for training and employment initiatives including our successful ex-offenders programme.

Freemont have an excellent track record in providing local jobs for local people and supporting the development of training, up skilling and new job creation. The 3 year contract we completed at MediacityUK is a strong model for employment, training & mentoring for people distanced from the labour market.

Economic

We work with our supply chain, up and downstream, to procure materials and equipment from local manufacturers with the aim of stimulating local manufacturing growth. We know from our experience that a helping hand at the right time can make a significant difference for both new and existing businesses.
